Biggest Ever Challenge Wanaka

Biggest ever Challenge Wanaka 16th January 2010

With close to 600 athletes now signed up for Challenge Wanaka and the Lake Wanaka Half, the largest field ever will race New Zealand’s most spectacular long distance triathlon course on 16 January 2010.

Individual Challenge Wanaka entries are up 50% on this time last year and we are seeing a marked increase in international athletes. As the Challenge Family Series grows globally athletes are travelling round to all the events, enjoying the unique Challenge experience. Challenge Wanaka has the reputation of not only being spectacularly beautiful but also a very tough and honest course – it’s very quickly becoming a must-do event.

Renmore House has Bed and Breakfast accommodation available for and leading up to this event.

Central Otago Rail Trail

While it is a little quieter at Renmore House because of the the shoulder season. Blair and I have been out trying out the new cycling tracks around Wanaka as we remould our anatomy to ride the Central Otago Rail Trail with our daughter and friends in November. Our last ride was 38kms out to Lake hawea for a coffee and home via the new Hawea River track. This photo is of the new swingbridge over the river. Awesome!!!

Wanakafest and upcoming Challenge Wanaka 2010

Willowridge Wanakafest this year is from 15th -18th October.

The focus this year is the Stonewood Homes House Build Project to bring the community together and with the proceeds raised from this project will ensure future Wanakafests. The house is being built at cost only by Stonewood Homes and the section was bought at a greatly reduced rate from Willowridge Developers.A lot of the work has been completed by volunteer tradesmen and locals from the community. It will be auctioned on 18th October. This house will have no reserve! and will be a great deal for the lucky new owners!

Renmore House has accommodation available within walking distance to most of the events for Wanakafest.
